Actress-comedian Anne Meara, whose work with her husband Jerry Stiller helped launch a 60 year career in film and television, died. He was 85 years old.

Jerry Stiller and Ben Stiller son pointed out that O'Meara died Saturday, but details were not provided.

The Stiller family issued a statement to The Associated Press on Sunday where he described Jerry Stiller as "husband and life partner" of O'Meara. Read articles Anne Meara Dead: Mother Of Ben Stiller

"The two were married for 61 years and worked together almost the same time," according to the statement.

The pair acted as Stiller & Meara on "The Ed Sullivan Show" and other programs in the 1960's and won awards for commercial radio and television which made together. It O'Meara also participated in dozens of films and television programs, including its long role on "All My Children" and sporadic participations of "Rhoda", "Alf", "Sex and the City" and "The King of Queens". It O'Meara was nominated twice for an Emmy Award for his role-sharing in "Archie Bunker's Place", as well as other three awards Emmy, most recently in 1997 for his role as guest-starred in "Homicide". He won a WGA award, which grants the United States Writers Guild, as co-author of the screenplay for the film for television "The Other Woman", 1983.

In addition to her husband and her son, O'Meara his daughter Amy and several grandchildren survived him.

"The memory of Anne lives in the hearts of her daughter Amy, his son Ben, grandchildren, other relatives and friends, and the millions of people who entertained as an actress, screenwriter and comedian."
